Currently I have a binary choice, its either i have breaks allowed (2 levels of timeout) or no breaks allowed. I think it would be a really good feature It to be able to configure a total number of breaks allowed per session.
For example for my really strict focus periods, just 1 break in case I have an urgent need to use my phone. for other periods that are slightly more relaxed maybe i want to be able to have 3-5 breaks allowable.
Amazing app , and i hope it keeps getting better and better!
I’d like to make a recommendation— a limited, pre-set number of breaks or resets we can take before a Hard Mode complete lock of app access. Say, for instance, I was making a post on social media and needed some extra time to finish it. I could prompt Opal, once per day (or however many times I chose when setting up the block) to allow me one and only one time limit reset for that day. After hitting that second limit, I’d be hard-locked out of the app by Opal, forcing me to mindfully use that second break time to complete my task and check messages, then log out. It can be a pro-only feature, but I feel that it would encourage more mindful use of our allotted app time. At the same time, it would allow those of us who shy away from Hard Mode locks to dip our toes into that experience while knowing we get one allowed “emergency” break and that’s it.
During my sessions that is not in “deep focus”, I allow myself to have breaks. But, sometimes I have tooo many breaks. It would be great to limit the the amount of break time I can have in a session. So let’s say the session is 6 hours, I would love to customize that I am only allowed to have 30 minutes of breaktime.
I think the one break per hour but no cancellation/leave early option would be a game changer. Currently medium level focus sessions are still able to be cancelled which defeats the idea in my mind.
