Multiple Sessions running simultaneously

+1 For this feature. I want to have a session always blocking certain sites and different sessions blocking certain sites during certain times or days, but it does not seem to be currently possible.
This is basic functionality and as a Pro subscriber I am quite dissappointed by this lack of functionality.

I really miss this function too. It seemssuper essential to me as a pro usee so I will not extend my subscription. I wanna open financial apps around 9am and 5pm and block social media all night and morning. Anyone knows an app that could do this simple thing?

Is this still being worked on?? The last thing written was years ago

I sent this to support, but thought I’d post it here as well.

I was trying to set up a block schedule where I’d have a basic block between 7am and 7pm that would block basic non-work social media, and then have another block during the afternoon for deep focus that would block everything not vital or work-related. However, it appears that it is not currently possible to layer blocks on top of each other.

This current system also exhibits a potential workaround/vulnerability for avoiding a Pro ā€˜don’t let me get around this’ block by setting an override block that extends beyond the Pro one, and therefore prevents the Pro block from ever taking effect. This, to some extent, undermines the value of Pro since I now know that I can get around any block with a bit of planning without impacting my streak at all.

My two cents for to implement this would be to decouple the rules sent to Screen Time from the sessions itself, and essentially take a combined view of all of the blocks, render them into rules, and then send that to Screen Time.

A a Pro user, I would greatly appreciate this being added.

Is there any progress being made on this feature? This is a really critical functionality that is missing.

Just discovered that even in pro I can’t have overlapping blocking sessions. Everyone before has explained why it would be beneficial. Hoping yet another comment will encourage you all to add this to the future feature list.

Hi Opal team!

I need the ability to configure more than one block/allow list within a single session, or to run multiple sessions simultaneously.

In addition to the use cases already collected since 2022, here are two concrete scenarios from my daily life:
1. Mental health–driven blocking with selective flexibility
I need to fully block social media during certain hours without dismissal for my mental health. At the same time, I need other apps (e.g., email) to remain dismissible so I can handle time-sensitive situations like emailing my child’s school if she’s sick. A single global dismissal setting doesn’t support this reality.
2. Business use of social media on a schedule
I use social media daily for my business, so app limits don’t work. I need social apps fully unlocked during specific work hours, and then completely blocked outside those hours. Right now, there’s no way to model that workflow cleanly in Opal.

This level of customization feels like table stakes, especially given that competitors already support it and this request has been raised repeatedly since 2022.

Focus mode customization is the core value proposition of Opal and the primary reason I chose it. Without the ability to create nuanced, layered focus rules, that differentiation breaks down, and unfortunately, this limitation means I’ll likely need to switch to another app if it isn’t addressed.

Thanks!
