Allow Notifications from blocked apps while in session

There should be an option to “allow” notifications from blocked apps while in a session. For example I have Facebook blocked but if I’m selling something on Facebook marketplace it would be nice to know if I’ve received a message. Just an app badge icon would be nice. Instead of waiting 8 hours to find out I missed my opportunity to sell something.

Create a toggle option that allows you to receive notifications from a blocked app during a focus session

hi @here ! Thank you for writing. Unfortunately, Apple does not allow this. A blocked app will not be able to send any notification to your phone.

I actually joined the community just to say this lol, Yessss

I have found a workaround for this. Its JANKY but IT WORKS. (I used this method before discovering opal)

  1. Go to the ios shortcuts app
  2. Click automation tab
  3. Select “App”
  4. Choose facebook or whatever app you still want to have notifications
  5. Select “run immediately”
  6. Click next
  7. New blank automation
  8. Search action “opal” and click “is opal protection on?” (Optional: deselect show when run)
  9. Search action “if” and add it as well
  10. Search for “open app”
  11. Choose Opal as the app

Summary: What this automation does is check to see if opal is currently activated, and if it is, any time that you click on the app it will force you into the opal app instead, and therefore disabling said app in a janky way WITHOUT DISABLING NOTIFICATIONS
