App is not blocking back after I use my time out

I use opa not to avoid social media completely, but to have something that makes the use of them less appealing, for example, having to wait for few seconds or minutes every time I want to open instagram.

But opal some time doesn’t block my apps back after my time off is gone. The apps just stay available forever.

Am I doing something wrong or it’s a bug within the service?

Hey @Gabriel_Ganzarolli ,

Thanks for letting us know! If your Time limit isn’t working as expected, here is my recommendation to sort that out: please go to your “Blocks” tab and hit the “Reload Blocks” button!

Once that’s complete, please follow all the steps here:

If running through every single step listed above doesn’t do the trick, please don’t hesitate to let us know at support@opal.so. We’ll be happy to take next steps.

All the best,
Team Opal

I just wanted to say that I think this might be a wider problem or a bug you all need to fix. It’s happening to me too. It’s been happening the last 4 days even after I refresh the blocks or close out the app. And I don’t find out until I look up and see that I’ve been scrolling longer than my allotment. I’m starting to get to the point where I’m wondering if I should explore another app.

I know this is kind of an old post, but this has been happening to me too. I’m really starting to wonder if the developers use their own app.

Hey @Hannah_Hirtzel ,

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the persistent trouble. Given that you’ve already done some troubleshooting, I’d next suggest our hard reset. To do this hard reset, please follow these steps in order:

  • Update to the newest version of your OS here: Update iOS on iPhone - Apple Support
  • Update the app to the newest version here: ‎Opal: Screen Time Control App - App Store
  • Delete all Sessions, Time Limits, and Open Limits
  • Open your Blocks tab and click the “Reload Blocks” button (it’s on the “Schedule” toggle)
  • Head to “Profile” - “Settings” (accessible from the cog icon in the top right corner) - “FAQs” - “Advanced Features” - Click and hold on “Reset my Screen Time”
  • Force close the Opal app
  • Turn your device off and back on
  • Reopen Opal

Once that’s complete, you’ll need to recreate your Sessions. Please let us know if that sorted out the issue!

All the best,
Team Opal
