Opal messes up with my Messenger, I’m almost considering turning it off completely because of it.
Even when Opal is off, Messenger doesn’t get back easily to normal state.

Agreed. I use messenger for a bunch of important communication. As things stand I can’t block Facebook, which is sort of the point of using opal for me.

PLEASE separate Facebook messenger app from the regular Facebook app. They are two different apps and I use Messenger for work.

It would be nice to have a little more granularity between Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. It’s probably tough because they probably share API endpoints, but I want to turn off Instagram and maybe Facebook while allowing myself to communicate with Messenger. Right now, I have to have all of them on so I can be reachable through Messenger.

not sure if this is possible with the vpn mechanism opal uses, but It seems that FB messenger is not working when facebook is blocked. I waste time on facebook and want it blocked, but I frequently have to use messenger to coordinate with others and having to ‘pause’ the schedule just to check messenger rather than allowing message notifications to refresh as intended is quite distracting (and leads me to blow time on facebook while I wait for messenger to refresh after reconnect…)

Hi there,

Thanks for your message.

Unfortunately, Facebook uses the same servers for Messenger and Instagram so there’s no way to unbundle it and isolate/whitelist Messenger only at the moment we are afraid :confused:

But I can assure you we’re actively looking into how to resolve this and make it happen.

Help!!!

This seriously cannot be the solution.

I spend a lot of time scrolling Facebook. So I added it as a blocked app. Well… that inadvertently blocked messenger!

My husband is overseas and that’s how I message him! I do not want to have either of us download and use a third party app just to communicate with my husband who is currently stationed overseas!

I just signed up for the free trial today and after seeing messenger blocked, I canceled my trial.

Please help :sob::cry:

Hello!

Opal should be able to distinguish between Facebook (the app and website) and Facebook messenger. I often want to apply a block to facebook, but not to messenger. Currently I cannot do this and therefore I am unable to block Facebook as I need to keep messenger open.

Thanks!
