'My Lock' on macbook app - "Edit lock" should be disabled while the lock is in place

For some reason on the macbook app (I’m not sure if it’s the same for the iOS App), you’re able to edit an app lock (not a session, but an app lock) while the lock is implemented, which means that you can delete the lock while it’s on going, opening up the locked apps. You can also increase the number of times you can unlock the app during a day. This seems counter productive to the point of an app lock. What’s stopping someone from originally setting the app lock to only open 5 times a day, but deciding that they want to increase it to 10 or 20 and doing so? It will be difficult for someone to rely on sheer willpower to keep to 5 instead of increasing the amount of unlocks. I don’t think we should be able to edit a lock while it’s ongoing, much like how we’re unable to edit a deep focus session

At the very least, we shouldn’t be able to edit the lock once we’ve run out of “unlocks” for the day. This includes setting the lock to “zero” opens for the day. If it’s at zero, you shouldn’t be able to edit it to increase the number of unlocks you get

I’ve tagged this as high demand because it seems like someone has requested that this feature be improved a year ago, but it hasn’t been.

Hi Cade, thank you for the link.

I’ve read the article and I understand that on the ioS app, you are unable to change or edit a hard lock while it is in place for the day. I have the iOS app, so I knew this before making this post. I love the feature for the iOS app.

I just don’t understand why it doesn’t work the same exact way on the MacOS app. To me, it doesn’t make sense that you’re able to edit a hard lock on the MacOS app. This seems like a bug.

Hey @ANM,

Sorry for the trouble! This is Sarah, the Support Lead at Opal, stepping in. To clarify, the App Lock feature was introduced on our Mac App in the last month! However, it’s not yet as robust as our App Lock feature via our phone app and App Locks are currently editable. That said, I’ve alerted our Mac App engineer to your request to improve the feature, which is already on the roadmap. Otherwise, I’m also currently working on updating our Help Documentation about the feature. We appreciate your feedback!

All the best,
Team Opal

Hi Sarah! Thanks for the clarification, this explanation makes sense to me. I really appreciate you for passing this feedback on to the MacOS app engineer, hopefully this feature can be updated soon! Just became a pro member and really enjoying all the other features so far.

Thanks for your help!
