Any time an Opal session starts, a break ends, or a session ends the Opal app forces whatever is playing to stop. I’m usually listening to either music or podcasts and it’s so frustrating to have it stopped whenever a session change happens.

We investigated a bit more your issue, thanks a lot for the detailed info you provided 
We’ve identified that is an Apple issue linked to a new blocking parameter we introduced recently (while in a session, you cannot uninstall Opal or other apps, to prevent you from bypassing blocking).
In next week version, you’ll get a toggle in the settings to disable that parameter, and this should fix the issue you have.
