Hi! When attempting to open a blocked app currently in an active session, Opal provides a screen with a call to action to “close” the blocked app (see pink circle in screenshot). When clicking this button, the blocked app is not actually closed, users are just brought to the Home Screen/last screen you were on before opening. This cause the app to remain open in the background and possibly skew blocking data.
For Apple users, the app Opal blocks can still be seen in the iOS app switcher as if the app was never closed. Each time the app switcher is accessed it appears to change the number of blocks for that app (yellow in screenshot), though it’s erratic.
I tested this out a few times, and each time the app switcher seems to show increases, then goes back down to a previous value, and then when the app is clicked from the app switcher, the app block screen Opal shows includes a real value, inflated value.
The functionality of the close app button (pink in screenshot) should fully close a blocked app. The app switcher should not impact block stats (yellow in screenshot) for an app if the app isn’t opened or selected.
